Spot Color - Response to Jean's Comments

An interesting effect that I have on my Sony RX100 is under "Picture Effects>Partial Color". It screens out all color except for your choice of Red, Yellow, or Green. This feature might be an all Sony cameras.

For anyone interested in doing a spot color picture, I'm sure PS has many ways to do it, and here is mine:
1     Open the photo in PS and duplicate the layer.
2     Convert the duplicated layer to B&W.
3     Zoom to 500% and use the Hand tool to move around.
4     A     On the B&W layer, use the eraser as a small brush to go around the edges where you want color.
B     Use the eraser as a larger brush to fill in the rest of what you want.
5     Zoom back to 100% to see how you're doing.
6     Flatten layers & save with a new name.

Then, post and show how it worked for you! (If anyone has another way, that would be good to know too.)

Looking for interest to go to Santa Cruz annual Clam chowder Cook-off.
https://beachboardwalk.com/Clam-Chowder-Cook-Off

I'm likely to go there on Saturday (amateurs) , but will change if there's group interest for Sunday (professional chefs/cooks)
For best photos of cook-booths, costumes, foods,   I suggest arriving 9am.   Food prep time is 10-11am,   Clam cooking 11am-1pm.   Public tasting (& the long lines) start about 1:15.   Kits cost $10 for 6 tiny tastes,  then you vote B4 3:30.  Winners announced 4pm.

My cell ph# is  702-757-7128.  I'm going Saturday.  Also,  the Boardwalk opens up the rides in the afternoon.      Terry

Spot color samples -- let me know what you think

Costa Rica

Leaving for Costa Rica Road Scholar trip end of Feb- Anyone have suggestions on a small camera to rent that will have a great zoom capability for birds? I have a Nikon D800-80-400 lens--but fear it is too heavy to cart around on the hikes and this is not a photography group. Thanks! Patricia

What do you think of doing "spot color" sometime, maybe as a monthly theme, maybe as a subset of monochrome, maybe something else?

I'm thinking of the photo I took of my son with his little boy in a field of pumpkins, and I made the basic picture B&W but had the pumpkin my grandson was holding as orange. Also, Reg photographed a line of dancers at a Renaissance Fair, with most of the picture B&W, but one girl in a dress of many bright colors whirling around--not a single "spot color" but the same technique or theme.

Any thoughts? Suggestions, or guidelines? I'd be interested to know what everyone thinks.

Has anyone been on a photo trip to Equador? I found one that sounds good and is reasonably priced.
Please let me know if you have any experience there.
I took this last week by my home with my new Sigma 150-600mm contemporary lens.  I am really liking it. Does anyone else have one?
